HARARE – The Zimbabwe African national Union-Patriotic Front politburo meeting that was scheduled for today has been postponed to tomorrow signaling the beginning of the party’s special congress which will be held on Friday.
Party spokesman Simon Khaya Moyo said the central committee meeting will be held on Thursday.
The special congress which was called by the G40 faction of ZANU-PF to prop up then first lady Grace Mugabe to vice-president was expected to gobble $8 million but this is said to be have been drastically reduced.
Former president Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace, who was expelled from the party on 19 November, will miss the congress as they flew out yesterday.
Mugabe is due for a medical check-up in Singapore but the couple is flying via Malaysia where their daughter Bona is expecting her second child.
