FORMER Harare West MP Joanna Mamombe, has been placed under the care of a superintended at Harare Remand Prison effective today for 2 weeks to assess her mental problem to stand trial. This was after her lawyers argued that Mamombe was not well and she could not stand trial after she failed to attend court last week.

Police officers had to “discharge” Mamombe from a local medical facility she was seeking medical attention from last week when a warrant for her arrest was issued. Meanwhile, the state is alleging that Mamombe is not unwell as she was caught on CCTV shopping on 4 September the day she was reported to be unwell to stand trial.

This is a developing story we will update it as new details emerge.
