CHAMISA’s ally and journalist of Alpha Media Holdings, Blessed Mhlanga, has issued a compelling call to CCC Leader and Presidential Candidate Nelson Chamisa, encouraging him to embrace the proposal set forth by the party’s Interim Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu.
The proposition, articulated by Tshabangu, advocates for a return to constitutionalism within the party’s ranks and the restoration of leadership duly elected during its Gweru Congress, back when it operated under the moniker MDC-Alliance. Following this restoration, a future elective congress is recommended for the appointment of new party leadership.
In a message posted on X, previously known as Twitter, Mhlanga remarked, “I think Nelson Chamisa should accept this deal not because he is weak, but because it’s not about him but the people he represents. Then he goes to congress. You have to lose to win.”
These statements by Mhlanga materialize in the wake of Hopewell Rugoho-Chin’ono, a respected journalist, conveying that, “Sengezo Tshabangu and his team have reached out to senior CCC MPs seeking to resolve their dispute amicably. Tshabangu and his team have clarified that their intent is not to replicate the actions of Douglas Mwonzora with CCC but to compel Nelson Chamisa to steer the party back to a state of constitutional adherence.

Tshabangu and his team said that they have delayed replacing proportional representation MPs because they have said that their intention is not to do a Douglas Mwonzora on CCC, but to force Nelson Chamisa to return the party to constitutionalism.
“Some of the leaders who were approached by Tshabangu’s team confirmed that Tshabangu’s lawyer also reached out to them suggesting an amicable settlement that doesn’t destroy CCC or allow ZANUPF to benefit from the internal discord. Their main demands are a return to the leadership elected at the Gweru Congress, a return to constitutionalism and an accountable leadership which is guided by the party’s constitution.

Additionally, Advocate Thabani Mpofu, the legal counsel for Nelson Chamisa, weighed in on the matter. He asserted, ” If Tshabangu is CCC and has any demands he must consent to the order sought in the High Court before he can make them. Only after the MPs have been reinstated can people talk to him otherwise no one should negotiate with a terrorist. If he is ZANU, let him continue on his path.”
In the midst of these developments, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially designated December 9th as the date for by-elections in constituencies where opposition legislators were recalled by Tshabangu on the grounds that they had ceased to be members of CCC.
