A heartbroken woman from Madziwa is alleged to have committed suicide after her husband stole her money before using it to pay lobola for another lover.

Auxillia Banda killed herself after discovering her husband (only identified as Norman) had used the money to marry another lady.

National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the development after the story went viral on all social media platforms.

“Yes, we can confirm that we have reports of a lady from Madziwa who committed suicide after her husband, a policeman, took her money and used it to marry another woman,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.

According to Kwayedza, Auxillia was a mathematics teacher in Madziwa.

She left behind four children — one who is in Form 2, Grade 7, Grade 4 and a 2-year-old. They are all girls.

The case is still under investigation and full details of the story will be released in due course.

Meanwhile, in an almost similar development, a Chiredzi woman was abandoned by her husband of 14 years for another woman after she sponsored his university degree by selling tomatoes and vegetables.

The woman in question, Diana Netsai Masendeke was married to Albert Nhada under the Customary Marriages Act.

However, on Friday she was stunned when she found her husband on the verge of exchanging vows with Nobuhle Masuku at Chiredzi Magistrate Courts.

The Mirror reports that the wedding between Nhada and Masuku was cancelled at the eleventh hour by Magistrate Judith Zuyu after it was opposed by Masendeke, their two kids and her father.

Speaking after the wedding was canceled, Masendeke revealed that she sold tomatoes and vegetables to raise money to send her husband to university.

After he completed his studies, Masendeke claims her parents invited Nhada who was staying in rural Chivi to Chiredzi where they got him a good-paying job.

She said her husband was a good man before they had money.  Masendeke added that she is heartbroken.

“I am heartbroken. I have been with him through thick and thin and this is his way of thanking me.”
