BULAWAYO – People’s Rainbow Coalition (PRC) presidential candidate, Dr Joice Mujuru says her party is keen to implement the devolution of power in line with the provisions of the constitution as a way of empowering marginalised communities.

Addressing coalition members in Tshabalala suburb in Bulawayo, Dr Mujuru said the aspect of empowering communities can only be realised if the constitutional clause that deals with the devolution of power is implemented.

She said her coalition is ready to empower the people of Matabeleland whom she said remain part of the marginalised communities in the country.

Dr Mujuru also challenged former president Robert Mugabe to explain to the nation how his government failed to account for the missing $15 billion in diamond revenue.

She said the focus of her coalition is ward based development given that all the people belong to a ward.

She further called on those who were involved in the disturbances that occurred in some parts of the country in the early 1980s to be brought to account for their actions including former president Mugabe who was the then accounting person for all what happened.

Dr Mujuru, who leads a coalition of five political parties that include National People’s Party (NPP), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Zimbabwe Economic Freedom Fighters (ZEFF), Zimbabwe United for Democracy (ZUNDE) and Democratic Assembly for Restoration and Empowerment (DARE) said they have managed to field 117 candidates to contest seats in the National Assembly and are confident of winning the polls and forming the next government.
