Harare Central Member of Parliament Murisi Zwizwai was surprised on Tuesday that former president Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao was not on the list of former Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front legislators who were expelled from Parliament.
“Are you sure Zhuwao’s name is not there?” the MDC-T legislator asked after the list was read out.
Five legislators -Ignatius Chombo, Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere, Kudzanai Chipanga and Mandiitawepi Chimene- were expelled.
The five-said to the kingpins of the G40 faction of ZANU-PF that was fighting to replace then Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa with then first lady Grace Mugabe- were among 20 members of ZANU-PF who were expelled from the party on 19 November.
Zhuwao was said to be one of the kingpins although he denied being a member of G40.
Other legislators who were spared from being expelled from Parliament but were expelled from the party were: Walter Mzembi, Anasthancia Ndlovu, Makhosini Hlongwane, Samuel Undenge, Sarah Mahoka and Eunice Sandi Moyo.
Zhuwao, Mzembi, Undenge, Hlongwane and Sandi Moyo were ministers in Mugabe’s government. – Insider
