The tightly-contested Zim elections may have been declared over, with the result announced a week ago already, but the battle is far from over as the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Alliance is set to take the matter to court with South Africa’s Advocate Dali Mpofu right at the forefront of the challenge.
In the country’s first elections since Robert Mugabe’s 37-year rule came to an end, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) confirmed last week that the ruling Zanu-PF had picked up 50.8% of the votes that were cast, declaring Emmerson Mnangagwa the country’s newly-elected president.
