Zimbabwe ruling party ZANU-PF intends to draft a resolution to dismiss President Robert Mugabe and lay the ground for his impeachment next week if he refuses to stand down, Reuters reported referring to a senior party source.

“There is no going back,” the source told Reuters. “If he becomes stubborn, we will arrange for him to be fired on Sunday. When that is done, it’s impeachment on Tuesday.”

The newspaper The Herald and the ZBC state broadcaster published photos from the meeting of Robert Mugabe with the military, which has seized power in the country and the delegation from South Africa.  Mugabe has not appeared in public since the removal, RBC reported.

Armed soldiers occupied key positions in the capital of Zimbabwe, Harare.  Mugabe, his wife Grace, and Minister of Finance Ignatius Chombo were taken into custody the next day.

Zimbabwean military refused to call it a military coup, calling it a “bloodless correction.”

According to the representatives of the army, Mugabe and his family are  “safe and sound”.
