Chihuri Too Sick To Attend Parly Hearings

Former ZRP commissioner-general Augustine Chihuri, who has failed to attend court and sessions of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy wrote to the committee saying that he is too sick to attend.

Chihuri, who is reported to be undergoing treatment at his in-laws’ in Malawi is said to have said that he will appear before the committee when has recovered.

Temba Mliswa, the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee said,

He wrote a letter to explain he was not feeling well but explained his side of the story. When he feels better, he is willing to appear before us so there is nothing that is swept under the carpet.

In his absence, Chihuri has been thrown under the bus and alleged to have been operating the ZRP diamond mine Gye Nyame as his personal property.
